Tate’s Clothiers was established in 1979 in downtown Brownsville, Texas, in an old, historic home. Tate’s moved to South Padre Island in 1980, and have remained here since.

As a specialty shop, Tate's has always strived to find new, undiscovered, upper-end specialty lines, not found in major department stores.

Tate’s was one of the first retailers in Texas to carry Tommy Bahama, as well as being a principal vendor of Ralph Lauren and LaCoste goods for many years, until each brand moved from boutique to mass distribution.

Today, our product line is vast but select. Our clientele expects beautiful, well-made, upmarket fashions, and we take great care and pride in providing the best.
